Experience a unique afternoon of Italian artistry as the Cello Quartet of the Youth Orchestra Luigi Cherubini visits Minneapolis on their debut U.S. tour.
Presented by the Italian Cultural Center of Minneapolis/St. Paul, this free concert showcases four talented young musicians from the renowned ensemble in a captivating program for four cellos.
The performance blends original compositions for cello quartet with arrangements of Italian operatic and classical favorites. The program features works by Verdi, Puccini, Donizetti, Rossini, and Monteverdi, alongside contemporary pieces by Giovanni Sollima—highlighting the cello's expressive range in both traditional and modern settings.
The quartet features:
Francesco Angelico | Matteo Bodini | Luca Dondi | Luigi Visco
All four musicians are distinguished members of the Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra, founded in 2004 by Riccardo Muti to bridge the gap between Italy's conservatories and the professional music world. Named after one of Italy's most significant composers—active across Europe—the orchestra embodies a deep commitment to Italian musical heritage with an open, international vision.
