Save The Date: 17th Italian Film Festival of Minneapolis / St. Paul, February 26 - March 1, 2026 Films are a big part of the Italian cultural experience and are deeply woven in the country’s history. Since the development of the Italian film industry in the early 1900s, Italian filmmakers and performers have enjoyed great international acclaim and have influenced film movements throughout the world. Launched in 2009, our annual Italian Film Festival of Minneapolis / St. Paul presents a series of outstanding contemporary films along with timeless classics. Through the lens of drama, comedies and documentaries, our movies offer a new perspective on the country and its people. Take a journey to Italy without leaving Minnesota. Building upon the momentum of previous years, the 16th achieved unprecedented attendance with over 1690 seats filled throughout the festival, further strengthening its place as one of the leading events promoting Italian cinema in the U.S. Inspiring Encounters with Italian Film Artists We’ll long cherish the joy of our participating Italian film professionals, who were deeply impressed by the festival’s energy and grateful for its vital role in supporting quality cinema that explores all topics to bridge differences, spark dialogue, and remind us of our shared humanity. Our guests, directors Francesco Bruni, Fabio Mollo, and actor Vinicio Marchioni, experienced this firsthand during their visit (even a first-ever trip to the U.S. for Marchioni!). They deeply appreciated the opportunity to engage with audiences and the care taken to introduce them to the Twin Cities beyond cinema. Even our guests who couldn’t attend in person such as screenwriter Anna Pavignano, directors Francesco Costabile and Enrico Maria Artale, felt the festival’s positive vibes through engaging online conversations with the audience. Directors Paola Cortellesi and Margherita Vicario were also able to participate through exclusive pre-recorded video messages, where they thanked our audience for attending and shared insights and behind-the-scenes perspectives on their films. The Italian Film Festival has always been one of the most sharply curated of the lot, and this year is no exception." Keith Harris, RACKET, February 24, 2025. Press: STAR TRIBUNE, RACKET | Calendar
