Meet Architect from Florence

 Andrea Ponsi

Join internationally recognized architect, designer and educator Andrea Ponsi at his lecture titled “Cityscapes: Drawing Analogies.”  Ponsi, who lives and works in Florence, will share his passion for drawing as it applies as investigation of urban space.  Florence is examined as a case study for these methods.    In his book “Florence, a Map of Perception," Ponsi demonstrates an ability to reveal perspectives of Florence as if one is “taking a walk with a wise and sympathetic friend who knows just what to say to get you to see what he is seeing.”

Examples of an "analogous design" methodology for architectural and urban projects will be discussed.  Ponsi’s own “spare but evocative watercolors and sketches which … seek to behold rather than pin down” will be featured during the lecture.
