Bilingual/Advanced Track


I corsi bilingue/avanzati sono strutturati per bambini già abitualmente esposti alla lingua italiana nella vita quotidiana. Per accedere a questi corsi non è richiesta una produzione linguistica avanzata, anche se si rende necessaria un’ottima comprensione della lingua.  

Le lezioni settimanali, della durata di 60 minuti, sono condotte esclusivamente in italiano da insegnanti laureati e madrelingua, o dotati di una conoscenza linguistica dell’italiano paragonabile a quella di un insegnante madrelingua. L’enfasi del programma sarà sulla graduale acquisizione di un livello di lettura avanzato, dell‘abilità di scrivere e di usare la grammatica correttamente man mano che lo studente progredisce attraverso i quattro livelli previsti. Inizialmente gli studenti potranno accedere a qualsiasi livello, a seconda delle loro capacità. Di tanto in tanto genitori volontari organizzano attività di svago in cui studenti e genitori hanno la possibilità di incontrarsi con altre famiglie allo scopo di conoscersi e socializzare. Le escursioni realizzate in passato hanno incluso una visita al Minneapolis Institute of Art, una giornata in slitta con autentico pasto italiano invernale a Powderhorn Park, un’escursione al Caponi Art Park and Learning Center e una visita alla pizzeria Punch, dove gli studenti hanno avuto modo di partecipare alla preparazione della pizza. 

Semestre Autunnale (12 settimane): 10 Settembre - 10 Dicembre 2011; niente scuola il 22 Ottobre (MEA) e il 26 Novembre (Thanksgiving)

Semestre Primaverile  (12 settimane): 28 Gennaio - 5 Maggio, 2012; niente scuola il 18 Febbraio (President Day), il 3 Marzo (Carnevale) e l'8 Aprile (Pasqua)


Regole di rimborso
In caso di cancellazione prima dell’inizio del semestre il rimborso è intero (meno i $5 versati per la registrazione). Se gli studenti decidono di ritirarsi dal corso prima della seconda lezione ci sarà una trattenuta di $25 sul rimborso, dovuta a una tassa amministrativa. Se la cancellazione avviene dopo la seconda lezione non ci sarà alcun rimborso.

In caso di maltempo
Le cancellazioni delle lezioni dovute al maltempo saranno comunicate sul sito dell’ICC entro le ore 8:30 del giorno della lezione. La lezione cancellata sarà recuperata in data da destinarsi.

Centro Risorse
I soci dell’ICC sono invitati a prendere in prestito materiali dal Centro Risorse per bambini.

    A 60 minute full-immersion lesson followed by a snack for advanced elementary to junior high school bilingual students. Students will develop basic reading skills and write sentences and paragraphs using basic grammar as well as continuing to expand vocabulary and oral communication skills through age-appropriate interactive activities and games that introduce aspects of contemporary Italian culture. 

    12-week semester; no class on February 18 (President's Day); March 3 (Carnevale) or April 7 (Easter).

    A 60 minute full-immersion lesson followed by a snack for early to mid-level elementary school bilingual students. Students will develop basic reading, writing and grammar skills and continue expanding vocabulary and oral communication skills through interactive songs, stories, games and imaginative play that introduce aspects of contemporary Italian culture.

    Students will use the Raccontami 2 textbook and a series of workbooks developed by Anna Maria Jaker for the course of the two to three year cycle. The workbooks are included in the tuition, but the textbook should be purchased by parents before the first day of class. Used copies can be sold and/or purchased on the ICC forum. 

    12-week semester; no class on February 18 (President's Day); March 3 (Carnevale) or April 7 (Easter).

Students will prepare for reading and writing (becoming familiar with the sounds of the Italian alphabet and practicing morphology) and continue developing vocabulary and oral communication skills through interactive songs, stories, games and imaginative play that introduce aspects of contemporary Italian culture. 

    Students will use the Raccontami 1 textbook and a series of workbooks developed by Anna Maria Jaker for the course of the two to three year cycle. The workbooks are included in the tuition, but the textbook should be purchased by parents before the first day of class. Used books may be sold and/or purchased through the ICC forum.
